Employee Type: Intern (Trainee)

This program requires students currently pursuing a two- or four-year computer science, information technology, or related degree, who have completed a portion of their curriculum, and will be completing their program after the intern experience. This program is not designed for graduates. Work will be performed at a surface lignite coal mine.

Job Description:

Duties/Tasks:
  • Support and assist with information systems and technology related functions
  • Maintain integrity of the systems by upholding all NAC security measures
  • Provide technical assistance to all users of information systems
  • Provide computer support to include: installation of application software; hardware and software assistance to users; and set up PC hardware and software
  • Perform job duties in accordance with MSHA law and regulations, established safety procedures, and state and federal environmental regulations
  • Other duties as assigned

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Customer service oriented with a strong work ethic, effective communication skills and a creative and innovative attitude
  • Ability to work efficiently in a team environment, as well as individually with minimal supervision
  • Thorough understanding of computer systems and Microsoft operating systems and applications
  • Protect the organization's value by keeping information confidential
  • Ability to take direction in a fast-paced environment

Educational Requirements:

Enrolled in computer science, information technology, or related program and in good academic standing.
