VantEdge Partners, LP (“VantEdge”), is a family office focused on private equity investments headquartered in the Kansas City metropolitan area. Its founding partners are Paul Edgerley and Terry Matlack. Mr. Edgerley was a managing director with the $75 billion global investment management firm of Bain Capital, focused primarily on private equity investments. He was with Bain from 1988 until 2016 when he became a Senior Advisor. Mr. Matlack was one of the founding principals of Tortoise Capital Advisors, a $20 billion investment manager specializing in listed energy investments. He has been involved in various investment companies since receiving his joint Law and MBA degrees in 1982. 

VantEdge invests in platform companies in a variety of sectors including: (1) home and commercial services, (2) industrial, (3) multi-location restaurant / consumer concepts, (4) health services, and (5) sports and entertainment. 

VantEdge deploys investment capital provided by its founders, which is flexible with regard to structure and with a long-term investment horizon. Its goal is to make control investments in middle market and lower middle market businesses across the U.S. targeting $15 to $75 million of equity investment per deal, making VantEdge among the largest private investment companies in the Midwest.

Role and Responsibilities

The Summer Analyst role represents an excellent opportunity to learn from and work with a team of motivated and experienced professionals in private equity. Summer Analysts at VantEdge are given similar responsibilities as a full-time Analyst, with the opportunity to participate in a variety of aspects for any given project and be staffed on several assignments at once. Due to the relatively small size of the investment team, Summer Analysts can assume integral roles within the team and get experience working directly with senior professionals. Summer Analysts are involved with the diligence, evaluation, and structuring of transactions. The Summer Analyst role is intended to be a twelve-week position with VantEdge, although the exact timeframe can be discussed on a case-by-case basis. More specifically, responsibilities will include:

• Research and compile market data relating to prior or future transactions 
• Financial analysis, valuation, and LBO modeling
• Business diligence
• Prepare correspondence, marketing information and presentations for senior professionals 
• Perform other duties and special projects as assigned 

Education and Experience  

To be considered for the 2026 Summer Analyst role, applicants must meet the following criteria: 

• Currently enrolled as an undergraduate student (preferably a rising senior at the time of the internship ) pursuing a degree in Finance, Accounting, and/or Economics or related field
• Minimum GPA of 3.5 
• Strong interest in a career involving financial analysis
• Extremely proficient in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint 
• Resume must include expected graduation month/year and GPA

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, including the capacity to work closely with an experienced and dedicated team of professionals 
• A driven and decisive personality - a “whatever it takes to get it done” mentality 
• Consistent attention to detail 
• Remain open to feedback with motivation to improve 
• Works well in a team environment 

Compensation

VantEdge offers competitive compensation commensurate with the position, which will be shared with candidates during the interviewing process.

Location

The VantEdge offices are located at 9401 Indian Creek Parkway, Suite 800, Overland Park, KS 66210 in the broader Kansas City area. Candidates will preferably reside in the broader Kansas City area or have ties to the area.
