Job Description Summary
The Student Success Coach will focus specifically on the needs of our student populations. The mission for this role is to retain and graduate students who may be at-risk for non-completion by identifying their barriers for completing and creating innovative strategies to bridge the gaps for student success. This position may work a varied schedule sometimes requiring evening and/or weekend hours.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in a related area
1 year working with students
Preferred Qualifications Master's degree
Experience with Salesforce/CRM software
Experience in Higher Education
Other Information
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Identify and maintain a cohort of students identified as at-risk for attrition from college.
Develop and facilitate new programs/workshops geared towards increasing retention and completion of SMC's at-risk student populations.
Facilitate the delivery of academic success programming (time management, organizational skills, note-taking, test-taking, SMART goals, etc.)
Identify and address student's barriers to completion by making referrals to appropriate campus resources: financial aid, Perkins resources, Road Runner Kitchen, counseling, academic advising, tutoring services and other college departments.
Interpret, explain, and help students navigate the college process, including student services policies, requirements, and procedures to support student success.
Refer students to their academic advisor to assist them in declaring a major, transferring, and reaching their career and academic goals.
Maintain communication with student cohort by designing, preparing, and disseminating announcements, newsletters, brochures, social media posts, and other forms of communication regarding upcoming important dates, events, activities, programming, or workshops.
Work closely with Resident Hall Managers in an effort to connect with at-risk students in Housing.
Assist with campus-wide initiatives such as EDUC 120, New Student Orientation, Welcome Week.
Serve on relevant college committees

3. The visual acuity requirements including color, depth perception, and field vision. The employee is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading.
4. The conditions the employee will be subject to in this position. The employee is not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions (such as in typical office or administrative work.)
