1. STATEMENT OF PURPOSE :
   The purpose of a job description is to outline the essential functions unique to a particular job within a specific department. Job descriptions are used to recruit, train, and evaluate employees.
   JOB TITLE: Landscaper
   REPORTS TO: Facility Manager
   FLSA STATUS: NON-EXEMPT
   JOB SUMMARY:
   Is responsible for leading, coordinating and executing the work of landscaping and grounds maintenance.
   ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
   This job description should not be interpreted as all-inclusive. It is intended to identify the essential functions and requirements of this position. The incumbents may be requested to perform job-related responsibilities and tasks other than those stated in this job description.
   • Mow and detail all district grounds in accordance with district landscaping plan.
   • Follow scheduled maintenance plan to care for lawns, trees, shrubs, and flowers by watering, pruning, fertilizing, mulching, caring for beds, and controlling weeds, power washing etc.
   • Plant shrubs, vegetation, etc.
   • Assist with the preparation of athletic fields for games, including chalking fields.
   • Maintain parking stripping up to code and assist with patching small parking pad holes.
   • Collect and dispose of leaves, dirt, rubbish, etc. from district facilities.
   • Assist with the inspection, repair, and installation of sprinkler systems.
   • Operate tools and equipment according to prescribed safety procedures. Follow established safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties, including lifting and climbing.
   • Correct unsafe conditions in work area and promptly report any conditions that are not immediately correctable to supervisor.
   • Help keep vehicle, equipment, and tools in safe operating condition.
   • Inspect and adjust tools and equipment for safety and efficiency and perform preventive maintenance as needed.
   • Employee is required to use safety devices and protective equipment in order to minimize the frequency and severity of work-related accidents. Adheres to safe practices and methods in the operation of equipment and supplies related to his/her particular job. The employee is responsible for correcting and/or reporting conditions within the building or grounds that may be hazardous to employees, students or staff members assigned to the building.

   Performs other related work as required.
   MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED :
   EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
   Graduation from high school or equivalent certificate.
   Prior experience in landscaping and grounds preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and experience deemed sufficient to prepare the applicant to successfully perform the duties of the position.
   CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
   Valid Texas driver's license
   KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES :
   Must be able to understand and follow oral and written instructions provided in English.
   Ability to operate landscaping equipment.
   Demonstrated knowledge of the methods and practices of landscaping work.
   Ability to work overtime or weekends and respond to call to work in advance of regular hours for weather events and other emergency situations.
   Demonstrated ability to effectively work and communicate with diverse populations.
   Ability to employ business technology tools as required, ex. Email, Ticketing System, etc.
   Must have reliable transportation.
   PRE-EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS
   Successful completion of the background and fingerprinting process.
   MENTAL AND PHYSICAL ABILITIES :
   Tools/Equipment Used: Garden tools; small hand tools; power tools; heavy equipment including backhoe, tractor, grader; and power mower; light truck or van
   Posture: Frequent standing, kneeling/squatting, bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting; work in tiring and uncomfortable positions
   Motion: Frequent walking, grasping/squeezing, wrist flexion/extension, and overhead reaching; frequent driving
   Lifting: Heavy lifting and carrying (45 pounds and over) on a daily basis
   Environment: Work outside, on slippery or uneven walking surfaces; frequent exposure to extreme hot and cold temperatures, dust, noise, vibration; exposure to chemical (herbicides and fertilizer) and electrical hazards; work around machinery with moving parts; may work alone; regularly work irregular hours; occasional prolonged hours; frequent districtwide travel
   Mental Demands: Maintain emotional control under stress
