Auto Group operates a major automotive dealership network in the Metropolitan New York region with a diversified portfolio of 13 brands across 11 locations, including Chrysler, Jeep, Dodge, Ram, Kia, Volkswagen, Ford, Buick, GMC, Fiat, Alfa Romeo, Maserati, Chevrolet, and Cadillac. The group also owns and operates a used-only dealership and two collision centers. We are seeking a General Sales Manager for its expanding sales team at a Luxury Brand Dealership in Long Island City, NY. The GSM is responsible for customer retention and profitability in the new- and used-vehicle profit centers. The GSM also fulfills responsibilities primarily through effective personnel management, knowledge of market potential, established performance standards and a keen awareness of each department's break-even data. The General Sales Manager will take responsibility for the following: Responsibilities: Build a high-performing culture centered on collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement. Hires, trains, supervises, and monitors the performance of the new- and used-vehicle department managers. Participates in the preparation of the annual dealership forecast by projecting unit sales, gross profits, expenses, and operating profits for the new and used sales departments. Meets with sales managers (new and used) to establish annual and monthly objectives for unit sales, gross profits, expenses, and operating profit. Ensures that sales managers (new and used) understand dealership policies, procedures, and sales systems. Oversee the end-to-end strategy for both new and used vehicle inventory to ensure optimal model mix, turn rates and profitability across both segments. Manage ordering and allocation based on demand forecasting, seasonal trends, and alignment with the DCO turn policy. Maintain strong OEM relationships to ensure timely product flow and access to incentives Foster a positive, professional work environment where team members are motivated, coached and empowered to succeed. Lead by example through active involvement in daily operations, customer interactions and deal structures. Qualifications: 10+ years of automotive retail management experience, 5+ years within a Northeastern Luxury franchise as a GSM or similar role. Strong knowledge of dealership CRM systems and inventory management software. Ability to develop sales strategies and meet dealership profitability goals. Excellent leadership, communication, and team-building skills.
