Job Description
Position Summary:
The Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining health, safety, and environmental programs and to ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements and corporate guidelines and promote a safe workplace. This role involves risk assessment, training, incident investigation, and collaboration with various departments to foster a culture of safety and environmental responsibility.
Key Responsibilities:
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure the organization complies with OSHA, EPA, and other relevant regulations. Stay updated on legal and industry safety standards.
- Risk Assessment & Mitigation: Identify workplace hazards, conduct safety audits, and develop action plans to mitigate risks.
- Training & Education: Develop and conduct EHS training programs for employees, including emergency response, hazardous materials handling, and accident prevention.
- Incident Investigation: Lead investigations of accidents and near-misses, determine root causes, and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
- Policy Development: Create and enforce safety policies, procedures, and best practices to minimize workplace risks.
- Environmental Management: Oversee waste disposal, air quality control, and sustainability initiatives to ensure environmental compliance.
- Emergency Preparedness: Develop and implement emergency response plans, conduct drills, and ensure employees are prepared for emergencies.
- Reporting & Documentation: Maintain records of safety inspections, incidents, and compliance reports. Prepare reports for management and regulatory agencies.
- Collaboration: Work closely with department heads, employees, and external agencies to ensure a safe and compliant workplace.
- Continuously monitor the workplace for hazardous safety and health conditions. Ensures all hazards are corrected or eliminated.
- Monitor and update all MDS sheets regularly.
- Responsible for having clear and effective signs and labels throughout the plant.
- Responsible for maintaining and managing the company Workers’ Compensation Program. Implement all matters of the program, including standards and procedures, initiating claims, and follow up on Dr.’s visits regarding return-to-work dates and restrictions. Assists management and supervisors in investigating accidents and developing measures to prevent recurrences. Ensure all accidents reports are recorded in a timely, complete and accurate manner.

Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, Occupational Health & Safety, Industrial Engineering, or a related field or a proven experience as a safety officer.
- Strong computer skills including Microsoft office suite.
- Knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations.
- 5+ years of experience in an EHS role, preferably in manufacturing, construction, or industrial settings.
- In-depth knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and other safety regulations.
- Create improvements in processes, design, procedures, and programs to minimize risk.
- Strong leadership and communication skills to train and enforce safety policies.
- Certification such as CSP (Certified Safety Professional) or CIH (Certified Industrial Hygienist) is a plus.
- Experience conducting safety audits, incident investigations, and risk assessments.
- Familiarity with conducting data analysis and reporting statistics
