Director of Elementary Special Education (K - 5) Start Date: July 1, 2025 Responsibilities include: • Provide appropriate services for all elementary special education students in accordance with individualized educational programs (IEP) • Assists in the design, implementation, management, and evaluation of the program of special education services at the elementary level • Develops procedures to identify, refer, evaluate and place elementary special education students • Coordinates, facilitates and evaluates the IEP development, implementation, and placement process • Assists in monitoring proper implementation of regulations as defined by IDEA, Chapter 766, PL 94-12, Chapter I: 89-313, PL 99-457, and other state or federal mandates relating to special education • Oversees the coordination of accommodations for state-mandated testing • Interprets the objectives of special education services to the administration, staff, parents/guardians • Assists and participates in Bureau of Special Education appeals, mediations, and hearings • Works with building principals to ensure effective general and special education coordination • Coordinates the Child Find referral process at the elementary level • Collaborates with school-based administrators and central office administrators regarding discipline of students with disabilities Mansfield Public Schools
