Remote Opportunity
Under the direction of the CEO, the CFO will direct and oversee the financial, and contract administration activities of the organization including financial reporting, forecasts, and strategy development regarding finance based on the general economic outlook and company performance.
Responsibilities
- Coordinates all independent and federal audits and ensures that proper internal controls are in place to obtain clean audit opinions.
- Prepares and manages general business, client and subcontractor contracts; negotiates or reviews all company contracts to ensure the company's interests are served optimally and that the company can comply with all terms and conditions.
- Serves as the top financial officer and ensures the financial integrity of the company.
- Reviews all financial reports, including income statements, balance sheet, cash flow statement, project reports and tax returns for compliance with federal, tax, and accounting regulations and standards, suggests methods for improving the accounting and budgeting process. Reviews the annual budget and analyzes actual results compared to budgets. Assists project leads with maximizing contract performance while staying within contract spending limits.
- Serves as liaison to the Board of Directors and its Audit and Executive Committees and coordinates agenda and action items with the President & Chief Executive Officer.
- Oversees finance department, annual budget preparation and contract budgets, and the several audit requirements of various customer contracts. Meets regularly with leadership to keep informed of financial performance and offer direction.
- Supervises investments of excess funds and provides recommendations to the President & Chief Executive Officer.
- Directly supervises the Controller, Senior Accounting Specialist, and Sr. Accountant (part-time). Responsible for the development and cross training of accounting and finance department staff.
- Conducts special studies, audits, and analyses, develops and recommends changes to accounting methods and other policies and procedures. Responsible for recommendations to the President & Chief Executive Officer concerning improvements/alterations in financial management systems, and other related matters.
- Reviews and verifies accuracy of journal entries and accounting classifications of all assets, liabilities, revenue and expenses.
- Applies generally accepted accounting principles, the federal acquisition regulations, and the cost accounting standards for contract accounting, to appropriately account for all company transactions. Seeks guidance, when necessary, from accounting/audit professionals on interpretation of accounting principles and standards.
- Participates in new business development activities with responsibility for reviewing financial/cost proposals and provides input in the strategic decisions about which opportunities are most viable. Responsible for warehousing and archiving all business proposals.
- Responsible for the development and maintenance of automated routine financial reporting, both internal and external.
- Responsible for administering and negotiating vendor and customer contracts as well as subcontracts. This includes maintaining contract files, obtaining client approval of subcontracts, conflict of interest analyses, analyzing vendor and subcontract quotes according to established policies, developing contractual terms and conditions, administering of the company's various insurance policies, reviewing or preparing small business deliverables, coordinating contract issues with the government assigned contract specialist or contract officer. Coordinates with legal counsel on contract language.

Qualifications / Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Business Administration with emphasis in Finance and Accounting is required. Master's degree preferred.
- Minimum of ten years relevant work experience is required.
- Minimum of seven years of experience with progressive responsibilities in related roles and strong leadership skills.
- C.P.A. or C.M.A or C.F.E. required.
- Experience in managing and administering government contracts preferred.
- Proficiency in Costpoint/Deltek, MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; power query, Power Bi experience preferred.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently, in a team environment, and exercise sound judgment.
